Hacettepe University Rock Grinding and Clay Separation Laboratory is an educational and research facility established within the Division of Mineral Deposits and Geochemistry, Department of Geological Engineering. The Grinding Laboratory serves in the sample preparation stage for mineralogical and chemical analysis of rock samples. The separation of clay components in clay-bearing samples is carried out in the clay separation laboratory.
The laboratory also fulfills analysis requests from faculty members with research projects, consultancy services, as well as public and private institutions, provided that the fees are deposited to H.U. Revolving Fund Management.
Analysis & Test Infrastructure
The technical infrastructure consists of components that allow sample drying, grinding, and separation to clay size. The primary equipment includes drying ovens, crushing and grinding devices for size reduction, as well as mixers and centrifuges for separating samples into clay fractions.
Analyses & Tests Performed
Laboratory personnel are responsible for preparing samples for analysis by grinding or separating them into clay fractions. Considering the labor force and daily operating capacity of the grinding equipment, approximately 30 samples can be ground per day. For clay separation, the centrifuge equipment allows simultaneous clay separation from 8 samples.

Hacettepe University X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Laboratory is an educational and research facility established within the Division of Mineral Deposits and Geochemistry, Department of Geological Engineering. It meets rock, material, mineral, and clay analysis demands required for research across Hacettepe University.
The laboratory also fulfills analysis requests from faculty members with research projects, consultancy services, as well as public and private institutions, provided that the fees are deposited to H.U. Revolving Fund Management.
Analysis & Test Infrastructure
The technical infrastructure consists of components capable of analyzing solid samples. Key elements of the infrastructure include a Rigaku D/MAX 2200 PC XRD instrument, a Thermo MERLIN M100 cooling system, and an IMELSAN generator.
Analyses & Tests Performed
The X-Ray Laboratory meets the requirements for rock, clay, and mineral analysis in scientific research. An average of 15 samples can be analyzed daily using the X-Ray equipment.
Quality Assurance & Accreditation
A "silicon dioxide (SiO₂)" calibration standard is used in analyses performed with the X-Ray (XRD) equipment. Hacettepe University X-Ray Laboratory is not an accredited laboratory.
