The Division of Ore Deposits and Geochemistry carries out educational and research activities focused on the genesis, distribution, exploration, evaluation, and sustainable exploitation of economically valuable metallic and industrial mineral deposits.
The division aims to investigate and assess natural resources using scientific methodology by analyzing ore-forming processes in light of geological, geochemical, and tectonic data. The academic program provides theoretical and applied courses covering the genesis, classification, exploration, and evaluation of ore deposits formed via magmatic, hydrothermal, sedimentary, and metamorphic processes.
In the field of geochemistry, the chemical properties of rocks, minerals, soils, water, and sediments are investigated to understand geochemical processes, mineralization mechanisms, the behavior of elements in the Earth's crust, and their environmental impacts.
Modern geochemical analytical techniques, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, geostatistical methods, and 3D ore modeling technologies are actively utilized in research and teaching activities within the division. Through field studies, laboratory applications, and analytical methodologies, students are supported in strengthening their theoretical knowledge with practice and developing professional engineering skills.
Research priorities focus on current global topics such as critical minerals, strategic raw materials, sustainable mining, environmental geochemistry, exploration geochemistry, and efficient management of natural resources.
