The Department of Geological Engineering is equipped with the infrastructure necessary for modern education and research[cite: 13, 15, 16]. Through our laboratory facilities, it is possible to carry out rock identification via mineralogical and petrographic examinations, vacuum carbon or gold coating of samples for scanning electron microscopy to provide or enhance surface conductivity, microchemical analysis, determination of mineralogical composition and textural features of ore and industrial raw material samples, fluid inclusion analysis, whole-rock XRD diffraction and clay fraction analysis, coal mineralogy and petrography, huminite/vitrinit reflectance measurements, disseminated organic matter analysis, microlithotype analysis, quality parameter determination through ash, volatile matter, and calorific analyses, petrographic characterization of fly and bottom ash residues from thermal power plants, porosity analysis, Fuel-oil S analysis, elemental concentration measurement in rock and natural water samples, grain-size distribution analysis for soils, permeability testing, stable isotope determination in natural waters, and evaluation of physical, strength, deformation, and index properties of rock and soil samples[cite: 13, 15, 16].
