Research Infrastructure

The Department of Geological Engineering has the infrastructure necessary for modern education and research. With the laboratory facilities of our department, it is possible to perform rock idefinition with mineralogical and petrographic analysis, carbon and gold thin-section coating under vacuum to provide/increase surface conductivity for electron microscope analysis, microchemical analysis, determination of mineralogical composition and textural properties of ore and industrial raw material samples, fluid inclusion analyses, whole rock diffraction and clay fraction analyses, coal mineralogy and petrography, huminite/vitrinite reflectance measurements, disseminated organic matter analysis, determination of quality parameters with ash, volatile matter, calorific analyses in addition to microlithotype analysis, determination of petrographic properties of thermal power plant volatile and bottom ash residues, porosity analyses, Fuel-oil S analyses, element concentration in rock and natural water samples, grain size distribution analyses of soil soils, permeability measurements, stable isotope contents of natural waters and, determination of physical, strength, deformation and index properties of rock and soil samples.
